How well does your name Google? Who are you up against? (Celebrities, etc.)
Submitted by Matt Blank.
I'm number one result for Mathew Honan and Mat Honan. I'm also number one for Matthew Honan and Matt Honan, even though that's not how I spell my name. I was number one for Honan for years and years, but now there's an Aussie insurance agency with a crappy website that beat me out for the top spot. I'm on page two for Mat--which is not bad when you consider how many generic mats there are out there--and I have no idea where I am for Mathew, Matthew or Matt.
What's in a screen/user name? Tell us how you found yours.
Submitted by Bill.
I use the same screen/username at a lot of sites. "Emptyage" is a homophone (until recently I thought it was a homonym; live and learn) for my initals: m-t-h. It was something I realized as a kid, and I've been using it online since about 1993 or so. Recently, some other dude with the same initials also started using it: on Flickr and MySpace, and he bought the dot net to my dot com.
I feel so violated.
What were you doing one year ago today?
Submitted by CassandraMorgan.
It makes me sad to even think about what I was doing a year ago today--essentially it consisted of working a lot, cleaning and cooking, drinking heavily, and worrying that my sweet, beautiful, vivacious wife would never again lead a normal life; would never be able to stand or walk without pain, hike in the woods, ride a bike, hike, run, dance, work, anything.
That period from the spring of 2005 to the spring of 2006 was utterly terrifying. I don't even know how many times I watched Harper trapped in agony and hopelessness, tried to be outwardly strong, and then stepped out to the front steps and cried in secret. I thank God that things are back--essentially--to normal now. Her back is doing great--although she will probably always have some degree of back pain and problems--and we're back to doing all the kinds of things we used to do.
I certainly could not have made it through that terrible year without the support of my friends. And for that, to those of you who read this, I thank you and will always be grateful.

What method do you use to prepare your coffee or tea?
Submitted by AgentBouche.
Tea: I start by pouring a couple of cups of water in the kettle and turn up the heat until it boils. I then pour a little bit of that water into the teapot, which warms up the pot. I then pour the water from the teapot out, and put the kettle back on to boil again. In the meantime, I add two teaspoons of loose leaf tea--typically Earl Grey or Scottish Breakfast--to the pot. As soon as the water boils, I pour it from the kettle into the teapot, where it steeps for five minutes (this may vary depending on what kind of tea I'm drinking). If I'm going to use milk (not always a a given) I go ahead and add it to the cut at this point, along with sugar. When my tea finishes steeping, I slowly pour it into my teacup, and then toss the entire cup into my eyes.
Coffee: I walk up to the counter and ask for one.

What's the next country you want to visit?
Submitted by Schomer.
Cuba. But Belize will have to do for the time being. Hello, Belize. See you in April.
But, seriously, Cuba. Cuba, Cuba, Cuba. If there's one place to go int he next few months, it's Cuba. Once Fidel smokes that great Cohiba in the sky, it's goodbye vintage cars and hello Chalupas.
Also: I need to go to Papua New Guinea, Greenland, Chile, and Tanzania (Kilimanjaro) pronto.
