Lace up your kicks and queue up a power song, voxers, because I've got another challenge going. (Somehow, I never manage to start them on the 1st of the month. Steph and Jenni were neck and neck last month, with Steph pulling it off at the end.
But this month I'm writing a review for Runner's World, so I'm going to be stomping across the planet on a daily basis. Which means I'm going to destroy you. Or, maybe not. One way to find out: Join up.
If you ran last month, I already sent you an invite. Otherwise, you should be able to join the challenge via the NikePlus site (which, by the way, is quite awful; a real dog) I think you can just click through the challenge widget below. But if you have any problems, holla at me in the comments with your nike plus screen name and I'll send an invite.
Interested in trying out a Nike Plus Challenge? Sure you are. Leave me a comment or email me your nike screen name and I'll send you an invite.
I probably should have pointed this out before, but I've got a story on the Nike Plus sports kit in the June issue of Macworld. It covers a few other topics as well. If you've been using a sports kit for some time, there might not be anything new to you there. But, hopefully, you'll find something useful there.
I think it's because I was in such shitty shape late last year; worst of my life. When I started out, running a mile was a huge deal. It's interesting to see that my average distance is only 3.7 miles with an average pace of 9:32.
That seems short and slow to me now, but I remember when a 1.7 mile trip around the panhandle took me 20 minutes and a lot of cursing.
Last weekend I ran more than ten miles, with more than 600 feet of climbing, and my pace was still faster than my overall average. I feel like I've come a long way.
Since the challenge I was participating in last month has ended, I think I need another to keep me motivated. Are there any Voxer's interested?
Nike+ added routes to its website. You can upload routes privately, or share them publicly. It seems like a cool (and needed) new feature. I just tried this for the first time, and added a route of my own. It was impossibly simple, and seems to have taken a page from Map My Run and other Google Maps mashups.
But if you live in San Francisco, and want a quick run through the panhandle with a hill, try this one out.
